Bush Honeysuckle can be removed in several ways: # 1 - small seedlings of Bush Honeysuckle can be easily hand pulled especially after a soaking rain # 2 - larger plants can be removed with a weed wrench, this is a good option for small outbreaks (Ask MC-iris about borrowing a weed wrench if interested) # 3 - Cut stump treatment using a 50% solution of a Glyphosate based herbicide mixed with water. The cut should be made flat 2-4 inches above the ground and the herbicide applied to the cut surface within 30 minutes of cutting # 4 - a foliar application of 3% Glyphosate based herbicide sprayed on healthy green leaves This is especially effective in late fall approximately October 15 - Nov 7 when our native vegetation is dormant (studies have shown that herbicide can be reduced t0 1-2% Glyphosate at this time of year) # 5 - A basal bark application using Garlon 4 in oil (one name brand for this herbicide is Pathfinder II). A basal bark application is made to a standing live plant and the herbicide is applied to the base of the stem covering the entire circumference of the stem from the ground level to 8 - 12 inches above the ground. The larger the plant the higher the treatment should go on the stem.

Good info, Spencer. Important to note that this is a species where Garlon 3a is not all that effective for foliar spraying.
